The aim of pastoral care is to ensure that the school is primarily a caring community. The Principal and Deputy Principal are committed to supporting all those involved in the pastoral care system.
At Duiske College we pride ourselves in providing an excellent standard of care to our students. Small class sizes ensure that each student is personally known, teachers have the time to attend to their educational needs and personal welfare. The pastoral care structures in the school include:
– Senior Management
– The Year Head System
– Guidance Councillor
– School Chaplain
– Home School Community Liaison Officer
Our Pastoral Care Programme includes:
– OK Let’s Go Transition to Secondary School Programme
The Pastoral Care System in the school ensures that the welfare of each student is closely monitored and catered for on an ongoing basis, ensuring that our students are happy and contented in a safe and positive learning environment.
Students at Duiske College receive Religious Education as part of the curriculum. The School Chaplain works in conjunction with the Religious Teachers to cater for the spiritual development as part of the overall holistic educational experience of our students.
Retreats, masses and other religious ceremonies are an integral part of our school calendar. These take place both at Duiske College and in the historical and inspiring Duiske Abbey, adjacent to our school.
Our Leaving Certificate Graduation Mass, Christmas Carol Service and Opening of Year Mass are particularly memorable occasions, which add greatly to school life.
Duiske College is a centre of learning excellence that is value driven. The school values Christian values of
– Love of learning
– Contribution to school and society
These values underpin every aspect of school life. Mutual respect is the cornerstone of every interaction in the school. The dignity of each person in the school is highly valued and this is manifested by the caring atmosphere and the excellent quality of relationships that exist between teachers, pupils, parents and all partners in the school enterprise.
