Do you like the outdoors? Would you like to spend your days learning new skills and having fun in a dynamic and challenging environment?  Fancy taking the first steps to making a career or hobby out of Adventure sports? Duiske College offers a one year full time QQI Level 5 course in Outdoor Sports and Recreation. This course offers the student a chance to gain a QQI Major Level 5 award as well as National Governing Body (NGB) personal skills, Instructor, Coach and Leader Awards.

You will leave the course with a broad level of qualifications and experience setting you up to take the next step in the world of Outdoor Sports!

Certification

Successful graduates will receive 8 Modules lead to Full Award (QQI Level 5 Award in Outdoor Sport and Recreation), as well as 5 NGB Awards.

Progression

Career opportunities exist and continue to grow more and more each year as

Ireland becomes a hub for Adventure Tourism. Many past students from this course have found the self confidence and personal skills developed have helped them gain employment in many different sectors.

This course also provides the opportunity to progress to a QQI Level 6 Awards or related third level courses. Such as The Degree in Outdoor Education in GMIT Castlebar, Co. Mayo. Duiske College has Progression Agreements with WIT and CIT.

Assessment

Modules are assessed on a combination of practical skills assessment, continuous assessment and examinations.

Further Education

Duiske College Adult Education students receive their certificates

Through the Higher Education Links Scheme, this award may be used by graduates to enhance their prospects of entry to specified courses in the Institutes of Technology. Successful graduates of these courses may achieve 390 CAO points.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Leaving Cert/Leaving Cert Applied or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an interview in cases of oversubscription
  • Mature applicants (over 23) are welcome
